Private Charitable Trusts
We provide segregated investment portfolios for charities rather than using common investment funds. We agree an investment strategy with the trustees based on the income requirement, risk tolerance, time horizon, need for inflation protection, investment powers and other constraints. We arrive at a thematic asset allocation policy and a long-term strategy, giving due regard to both current and future beneficiaries. A designated manager will take full responsibility for the fund, responding to variations in market conditions through tactical changes and, of course, well-researched investment selections. Our investment style, based on our “building block” approach, is implemented consistently across our charity portfolios.
We regard our working relationships with charity clients as twofold. Firstly, to manage their investments well and secondly, to help trustees fulfil their duties. This demands a close working partnership. We understand all the issues relevant to trustees, particularly helping them follow the guidelines on investment of charitable funds. We will review your written investment policy or, if one does not exist already, help you draft one. We will help set appropriate benchmarks, which may be either standard or individually constructed. Portfolio composition will be transparent, allowing trustees to comprehend and evaluate performance quickly. Our investment reports are clear and concise. Regular meetings with trustees are part of our service and our investment managers are always accessible.
