Board and Executive Committee

AUDLEY TWISTON-DAVIES spent twenty-five years with Foreign & Colonial Investment Management Ltd, latterly as Chief Executive of Foreign & Colonial Emerging Markets Ltd and on the Executive Committee of Foreign & Colonial Management Ltd. He is also Chairman of TR European Investment Trust Plc and a Director of New India Investment Trust Plc. He is a Director of Galileo Investment Holdings Ltd and Chairman of Taylor Young Investment Management Limited.

PETER THOMSON joined Taylor Young in 2004 as the Chief Investment Officer from Gerrard Limited where he spent eighteen years managing Private Client, Trust and Charity mandates. He graduated in Mathematics and Statistics, and qualified as a Member of the Stock Exchange specialising in Investment Analysis, Private Client Investment Management and Regulation. At Gerrard he chaired the Investment Process Committee and, latterly, was Head of the Global Strategies Division. At Taylor Young he leads the Investment Team and Research functions and in May 2006 was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Executive Committee. He is also a Director of Alpha Trust.

PHILIP TODD joined Taylor Young in 1998 from Hill Samuel where he had worked for over eleven years. After a period in Edinburgh, he moved to London in 1990 and was a Director of the Private Client and Charity Division. At Taylor Young he is Director of Private Clients and Charities, is a member of the Executive Committee and a Senior Investment Manager.

ANDREW WALDREN joined Taylor Young in 2000 from the Bank of NT Butterfield & Son Ltd where, over a period of eight years, he held various IT and project management positions in the asset management division of their Bermuda, Singapore and London operations. Before this, he spent six years working in the City for leading European banks. He is Operations Director and a member of the Executive Committee.

DAVID GIBBS is a Director of Galileo Investment Holdings Ltd and is Chairman of Alpha Trust. He has over forty years of professional asset management experience, formerly as an Executive Director of Hambros Bank and Hambros Fund Management. He is a Non-Executive Director of Top Technology Ventures Ltd, a manager of venture capital funds.

PHAEDON TAMVAKAKIS is a Director of Galileo Investment Holdings Ltd and Managing Director and Founder of Alpha Trust. He is also on the Board of Directors of Helenic Institutional Investment Association. He gained an MA from Exeter University reading Investment & Finance. After working for Unilever, he co-founded Alpha Trust in 1987.

Investment Team

PETER THOMSON, born 1965, graduated with a BSc (Honours) in Mathematics and Statistics from University of London in 1986. He joined Taylor Young as the Chief Investment Officer from Gerrard Ltd. (formerly Gerrard Vivian Gray/Greig Middleton) where he spent eighteen years managing Private Client, Trust and Charity mandates. At Gerrard he chaired the Investment Process Committee and, latterly, was Head of the Global Strategies Division. At Taylor Young he leads the Investment Team and Research functions and is also a Director and Chief Executive Officer. He is a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute.

PHILIP TODD, born 1960, graduated from St Andrew’s University with an MA (Honours) degree in Geography in 1983. As a Senior Investment Manager, he manages both private clients and charity portfolios. Before joining Taylor Young in 1998 he was a Director of the Private Client and Charity Division of Hill Samuel Asset Management where he worked for eleven years. As well as being a Senior Investment Manager he is also a Director and on the Executive Committee. He is a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute.

CHRISTOPHER BUXTON, born 1972, graduated with a BSc (Honours) Degree in Marketing and Economics from Newcastle University in 1996. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In 2000 he moved to Greig Middleton which merged to form Gerrard Ltd. At Gerrard he was a member of one of the leading private client teams responsible for managing a large and diverse client base. Christopher joined Taylor Young in 2004 and is a Senior Investment Manager with research responsibilities for the Resources sector. He is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

ROBERT GOODCHILD, born 1960, started his career at Scrimgeour Kemp-Gee Ltd in 1982 leaving what had become Scrimgeour Vickers Asset Management Ltd in 1991. That year he moved to Greig Middleton which merged to form Gerrard Ltd. Throughout this period he has specialised in managing private client portfolios. Robert joined Taylor Young in 2004. He is a Senior Investment Manager and is responsible for Collective Investment Scheme research. He is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

JAMES OLDHAM, born 1972, started his career at Johnson Fry Plc (now Legg Mason investment managers) before becoming a founding director of AKG Group. AKG is a holding company with investments and services which range from advice and trustee services to self-invested and self-administered pensions to consultancy services and actuarial advice to the financial services industry. James joined Taylor Young in March 2000. As well as being a Senior Investment Manager he is also an Associate Director and manages the Taylor Young Growth and Income Fund. He is also responsible for Industrials and Support Services research. He is an Associate of the Securities and Investment Institute.

SIR CHRISTOPHER ROYDEN, born 1937, graduated with an MA in History from Oxford in 1960. Having spent ten years in his family’s business he joined Spencer Thornton in 1971 and served with successor firms which eventually became Gerrard Ltd. For most of this period he has specialised in managing private client portfolios. He is a Senior Investment Manager and a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute. Sir Christopher joined Taylor Young in 2004.

NICHOLAS RUNDLE, born 1958, graduated with a BA (Honours) degree in PPE from Oxford University and joined Wood Mackenzie in 1983. He has worked for a number of brokers including BZW from 1988-1995. He was Head of Client Account Management at Morley Fund Management, the asset management division of Aviva, before joining Gerrard as an investment manager in 2002. From 1998-1999 he was a Sloan Fellow at the London Business School and holds an MSc in management from London University. Nick joined Taylor Young in 2004 and as well as being a Senior Investment Manager he is also an Associate Director. Nick manages the Taylor Young Equity Income Fund and the Taylor Young Growth Fund. He is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

NICHOLAS TAYLOR-YOUNG, born 1960, graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Natural Sciences in 1981. He trained as an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years, before moving into fund management. He joined Taylor Young in 1995 after eight years’ experience at James Capel and Smith & Williamson. He is a Senior Investment Manager and is responsible for Fixed Interest, Chemicals and Other Financial research. He is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

JASON TOOLE, born 1970, began his investment career at Gerrard Vivian Gray, which later merged to form Gerrard Ltd. Following extensive experience in administration and settlements he completed his SFA Securities Representative exam in 1995. He was a member of one of the leading private client teams at Gerrard, managing a large and diverse client base. Jason joined Taylor Young in 2004. He is a Senior Investment Manager and is responsible for Banks and Utilities research. He is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

MARK FIDGEN, born 1967, began his career at Montagu Loebl Stanley in 1986.He obtained his SFA Securities Representative qualification in 1989, the same year that he joined Gerrard Vivian Gray as a dealer. He has 16 years' experience dealing in UK and overseas equities and collective investments. Mark joined Taylor Young in 2005 as Head of Dealing.
